ECC Fall Sports Season Updates / Honors

FOOTBALL:  In a classic gridiron contest in week nine, Milford downed host Anderson 41-40 to claim at least a share of the ECC Championship.  Read more HERE.  When week ten was all said and done, West Clermont defeated Milford and the ECC had three teams share the 2017 gridiron championship - Anderson, Milford, and West Clermont.  Congratulations to all three teams!  Player of the Year honors went to Anderson's Jay Volpenhein (Offensive) and Milford's Bryce Dugan and West Clermont's Joey Floccari (Defensive).  Coach of the Year accolades went to West Clermont's Nick Ayers.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Congratulations to Anderson on its 33-0 opening round win over Troy.  Read more HERE.  The Redskins then fell to Winton Woods in the second round to wrap up a tremendous season with a 10-2 record.  Also, shout outs go to both West Clermont and Milford, who despite opening round losses, had memorable seasons this fall!  ALL-DISTRICT:  Division I All-Southwest Ohio awards went to Milford's Bryce Dugan (First Team), Blake King (Second Team), and Connor Foster (Honorable Mention); West Clermont's Austin Maham (Second Team), Alex McQueen (Second Team), Joey Floccari (Honorable Mention), Gunnar Johnson (Honorable Mention), Austin Price (Honorable Mention), and Joe Wahl (Honorable Mention); and Walnut Hills' Jowon Briggs (Second Team).  DII recognition went to Anderson's Jay Volpenhein (First Team and Offensive Player of the Year), Kyle Blaha (First Team), Austin Watt (First Team), Trent Rogers (First Team), Zeke Correll (First Team), Jimmy O'Toole (First Team), Amadaz Jones (Second Team), Nate Wilkins (Second Team); Turpin's Quintin Wilson (First Team) and Griffen Durso (First Team); Loveland's Ryan Batsch (First Team); Kings' Nak'emon Williams (Second Team), Hunter Jessee (Second Team), Justin Wise (Second Team), and Ethan Young (Second Team); and Withrow's Sebastian Lewis (Second Team) and Milyke Brown (Honorable Mention).  ALL-STATE:  Congratulations to the following Division II All-Ohio selections:  Anderson's Jay Volpenhein, Zeke Correll, Jimmy O'Toole, Kyle Blaha, Austin Watt, and Trent Rogers; Turpin's Quintin Wilson and Griffen Durso; and Loveland's Ryan Batsch.  Shout out to Milford's Bryce Dugan for earning All-Ohio honors in Division I.

BOYS' GOLF:   This year's preseason tournament was won by Turpin, with Loveland's Austin Huynh taking medalist honors with a 74.  Check out the results HERE.  The Postseason tournament was held September 28.  Congratulations to Loveland for winning both the Postseason tournament and the ECC title!  Player of the Year honors went to Turpin's Cash Renfro and Coach of the Year honors went to Walnut Hills' Larry Klein.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  The Division I Sharon Woods Sectional tournament was held October 3 and the Loveland Tigers advanced as a team to the District tournament at Glenview.  Milford's Justin Horn and Anderson's Tyler Compton and Peter Barton also advanced to Districts as individuals.  Individual results can be found HERE.  Walnut Hills competed in the Miami Whitewater Sectionals and those individual results can be found HERE.  At Districts, Loveland finished eighth as a team and Milford's  Justin Horn shot a 74 and finished one stroke away from advancing to the State Championships.  Individual DI District results can be found HERE.

GIRLS' GOLF:  The Loveland Lady Tigers captured the Preseason Shootout, with Alejandra Bonet earning medalist honors.  See complete results HERE.  The Postseason tournament championship was captured by the Kings Lady Knights.  But, for the third straight season, the Loveland Lady Tigers will reign as overall Conference Champions!  Loveland's Alejandra Bonet was named Player of the Year, while Kings' Brian Parkhurst was named Coach of the Year.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Congratulations to Walnut Hills' Katie Hallinan and to Kings' Alex Swayne for winning their respective Sectional championships on October 2.  In addition to these two young ladies advancing to today's District competition at Beavercreek Golf Club, Turpin's Margot Swartz and Loveland's Alejandra Bonet have also advanced as individuals.  Individual results from the Walden Ponds Sectional can be found HERE, while the Hamilton Elks Sectional results can be found HERE.  Kings' Alex Swayne and Walnut Hills' Katie Hallinan competed in the State Golf Championships.  Katie finished as State Champion, while Alex finished fourth!  A remarkable year for both ECC players!.  Individual District results can be found HEREALL-DISTRICT:  Walnut Hills' Katie Hallinan was named the Southwest Ohio Player of the Year!  Joining Katie on First Team was Kings' Alex Swayne.  Loveland's Alejandra Bonet earned Second Team recognition, while Kings' Leah Swayne received Honorable Mention honors.

GIRLS' TENNIS:  Turpin walked away with the 2016 Conference title, finishing the regular season with a perfect 6-0 record.  The Lady Spartans matched last year's performance with another 6-0 regular season record and ECC tournament title!  Turpin's Caitlin Fisher earned Player of the Year honors and the Lady Spartans' Gail Maundrell received Coach of the Year recognition.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Sectionals were held October 5-7 and Turpin's Caitlin Fisher advanced to the DI District tournament.  This was her third straight trip to Districts!  Caitlin advanced to the State Tennis Championships at the Lindner Family Tennis Center for the third year in a row!

BOYS' SOCCER:  Congratulations to the Anderson Redskins' for winning their second straight ECC title!  Player of the Year recognition went to Matt Fickenworth and Coach of the Year honors went to Adam Jones, both from Anderson.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  The District Champion Anderson Redskins downed St. Xavier 2-1 to reach the November 4 Regional Final match against Beavercreek at Lebanon MS at 4 pm!  Read more HERE.  Unfortunately, the Redskins fell to Beavercreek 3-2 to finish a great season at 20-2!  Read more HEREALL-DISTRICT:  Shout out to Anderson's Jack Vogele, Brodie Sallows, and Matt Fickenworth; Turpin's David Rinderle, Jacob Benintendi, and Chris Workman; Walnut Hills' Jake Hipskind; and Loveland's Ian Fields for earning All-Southwest Ohio honors!   ALL-STATE:  Congratulations to Anderson's Matt Fickenworth for earning OSSCA First Team All-State recognition!

GIRLS' SOCCER:  Loveland has picked up where it left off last year, winning its first thirteen contests and being ranked among the top teams in the state and nation and winning the State title!  The Lady Tigers also won their fourth ECC title in the last five years!  Player of the Year honors went to Loveland's Colleen Swift, while the Lady Tigers' Todd M. Kelly won the Coach of the Year award.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Loveland downed Fairfield 2-1 in the Regional semis to advance to the Regional Final against Springboro.  Read more HERE.  In the Regional Final match-up against Springboro, the Lady Tigers won 1-0 in overtime to advance to the State Final Four!  The Lady Tigers then defeated Olentangy Liberty 2-1 in overtime to advance to the State Championship match at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus!  ALL-DISTRICT:  Congratulations to Loveland's Colleen Swift, Lauren Parker, Brooke Harden, and Brice Grieshop; Turpin's Taylor Gebhart and Spencer Heming; West Clermont's Anna Smith; Anderson's Devi Andreadis; Milford's Jessica Morgan; Kings' Maddie Ovington, and Walnut Hills' Kamryn Keehan for earning All-Southwest Ohio recognition.  ALL-STATE:  Shout out to Loveland's Colleen Swift and Lauren Parker and Turpin's Taylor Gebhart for earning OSSCA All-Ohio honors!

BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY:  The Kings Knights won their second consecutive ECC title, winning the October 14 ECC Meet.  Individually, Loveland's Greg Ballman won the race and Runner of the Year honors, with Kings' Alexander Justus and Turpin's Peter Morton finishing second and third respectively.  Coach of the Year honors went to Kings' Jim Brant.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:   Congratulations to Kings, Turpin, and Anderson for advancing to Regionals as teams.  The following runners have also advanced to today's Regional Meet in Troy:  Kings' Gideon Diebel, Nate Muenchen, and Alex Justus; Loveland's Greg Ballman and Ajay Stutz; Turpin's Peter Morton and John Morton; Miflord's Harrison Craycraft; and Anderson's Ben Lindblad and Liam Gallagher.  Shout out to Kings for advancing to the State Championships as a team!

GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY:  The Kings Lady Knights captured their second ECC crown in the last three years at the October 14 ECC Meet.  West Clermont's Maddie Walker was the individual champion and Runner of the Year, finishing ahead of runner-up Sam Bush (Turpin) and third place finisher Leah Maschino (Kings).  Coach of the Year recognition went to Kings' Lynn Brant.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Three teams have advanced to today's Regional Meet in Troy, Kings, Turpin, and Anderson.  Individual qualifiers include Sam Bush from Turpin, who won the District A race!  Joining Sam will be teammates Lydia Bentley and Jayne Maxwell; West Clermont's Maddie Walker and Morgan Walsh; Kings' Leah Maschino, Brooke Garter, Abby Gandert, and Jennifer Cooper; and Anderson's Katie Kelly and Annabel Clayton.  Congratulations to Turpin's Sam Bush, West Clermont's Maddie Walker and Morgan Walsh, and Kings' Leah Maschino for advancing to the State Championships!

VOLLEYBALL:  Loveland captured the ECC Championship for the second time in the last six years!  The Lady Tigers finished the ECC schedule with a perfect 14-0 record.  Player of the Year honors went to Loveland's Marie Plitt, while the Lady Tigers' Julie Plitt received Coach of the Year accolades.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Anderson, Loveland, West Clermont, and Turpin all fell in Sectional final matches, capping off fine postseason runs by each team.  ALL-STATE:  Shout out to Loveland's Marie Plitt, who was named to the OHSVBCA All-Ohio volleyball squad!  See list HERE.
