FALL ECC STATE QUALIFIERS

Congratulations to Walnut Hills' Lilly O'Toole and Turpin's Caitlin Fisher for advancing to the October 21-22 State Tennis Championships!  Caitlin placed fourth in the State!  Read more HERE.  Check out the complete singles bracket HERE.  Congratulations to both young ladies!

Turpin cross country runner Ben Gothard advanced to the November 5 State Meet at National Trail Raceway.  Congratulations! In girls' cross country, Turpin's Samantha Bush and Kings' Hannah Rasmussen also advanced to the State Meet!  Samantha placed fifth overall!  See final results HERE.  Congratulations!

FOOTBALL:  Congratulations to the Turpin Spartans, your 2016 ECC football champions.  The Spartans finished the year with a perfect 10-0 regular season record.  Read more HERE.  Player of the Year honors went to Anderson's Jay Volpenhein and Kings' Tyler Knecht (Offensive) and Turpin's Lang Evans (Defensive).  Coach of the Year recognition went to Turpin's Rob Stoll.  First Team All-District honors went to Turpin's Lang Evans (Defensive Player of the Year), Harry Sands, and Will Hausfeld; Anderson's Jake Newton and Jay Volpenhein; and Kings' Dan Sichterman and Matt Sichterman.  Second Team recognition went to Milford's Chase Witte and Andrew Johnson; Anderson's Dylan Browning; Kings' Tyler Knecht; Walnut Hills' Jowon Briggs; Turpin's Sammy Myres and Jack Tyszkiewicz; and Loveland's Cameron Beck and Drew Graflin.  Honorable Mention recipients included Turpin's Jack Campbell, Drew Spencer, Luke Bohenek, and Colin Thompson; Anderson's Amadaz Jones, Austin Watt, Zeke Correll, Kyle Blaha, and Harrison Hill; Glen Este's Eli Ulsh and Elijah Johnson; Loveland's Luke Waddell; and Kings' Raymon Potter and Grant Coleman.  ALL-STATE HONORS:  AP All-State honors went to Turpin's Lang Evans (First Team), while Anderson's Jake Newton earned Third Team recognition.  Kings' Matt Sichterman and Dan Sichterman, Turpin's Harry Sands and Will Hausfeld, and Anderson's Jay Volpenhein earned Honorable Mention honors.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Turpin advanced to the second round of the playoffs, following the Spartans 40-14 win over Harrison.  Read more HERE.  The Spartans then fell to LaSalle in second round action to finish their great season at 11-1.  Kings and Anderson fell in the opening round in heartbreaking fashion.  Both teams were driving toward a potential win in the final minutes of their games before losing.  Congratulations to all three squads!

BOYS' GOLF:  This year's Preseason tournament title went to the Milford.  The Eagles finished five shots ahead of runner-up Loveland (307-312).  Milford's Nathan Arnold was Medalist with a 72 - two shots ahead of runner-up Cash Renfro from Turpin.  The Postseason tourney was won by Kings (picture below), although Milford won the overall ECC crown for the third straight year.  Postseason tournament top three finishers were Milford's Nathan Arnold, who earned Player of the Year honors, Kings' Matt Shumar, and Loveland's Brandon Bishop.  Kings' John Karabinus earned Coach of the Year honors.  POSTSEASON RECAP:  Loveland advanced as a team to the District golf tournament after finishing fourth in the Sectional tourney.  Joining the Tigers were Milford's Nathan Arnold and Aaron Wade and Kings' Matthew Shumar, who advanced as individuals.

GIRLS' GOLF:  The Preseason tournament was held August 11 at Walden Ponds, with Loveland walking away with the victory.  Medalist honors went to the Lady Tigers' Alejandra Bonet, who shot an 83.  She finished just ahead of teammate Lindsey Bachmann (86).  The Postseason tournament was held September 22 at Walden Ponds, with the Loveland Lady Tigers coming away with the championship.  And, just like in 2015, Loveland reign as your Eastern Cincinnati Conference winners!  Walnut Hills' Katie Hallinan was Medalist of the Postseason tourney, with Loveland's Alejandra Bonet and Lindsey Bachmann finishing second and third respectively.  Alejandra was named Player of the Year.  Coach of the Year honors went to Anderson's Darin Hausberger, Loveland's Barb Orsinelli, and Turpin's J.K. Buck.  POSTSEASON RECAP:  The Loveland Lady Tigers advanced to Districts with their fourth place team finish.  Walnut Hills' Katie Hallinan reigned as Sectional champion after firing a 73 and also advanced to the District tourney.

GIRLS' TENNIS:  This year's ECC Championships were held September 27 with Turpin winning both the tournament title and the 2016 Conference championship for the second consecutive year.  Turpin's Caitlin Fisher was named Player of the Year and the Lady Spartans Gail Maundrell earned Coach of the Year recognition.  All-City honors went to Caitlin and Milford's Amanda Reinhart (First Team Singles), Walnut Hills' Lilly O'Toole (Second Team Singles), Turpin's Savannah Allen (Honorable Mention Singles), Loveland's Peyton Geers and Anderson's Mackenzie Whitehead (Distinguished Singles), and Turpin's Sarah Wilke and Brogan Bennell, Loveland's Andrea Wittekind and Anna Svitkovich, Walnut Hills' Katie Hannan and Katie Lawson, and Kings' Lindsey Kaesemeyer and Cecile Reich (Distinguished Doubles).  Special Awards were presented to Amanda Reinhart (Most Improved Player) and Peyton Geers (Sportsmanship Award).  Glen Este's Kevin Ammerman earned the Distinguished Coach Award.  POSTSEASON RECAP:  The following players advanced to the District tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason:  Turpin's Caitlin Fisher (singles - Sectional champ), Milford's Amanda Reinhart (singles), and Walnut Hills' Lilly O'Toole (singles).  Caitlin and Lilly advanced to the State Tennis Championships!  

BOYS' SOCCER:  Anderson won the ECC championship with a fine 6-0-1 Conference record.  Congratulations to Anderson's Sam Kunkemoeller for earning Player of the Year honors and to the Redskins' Adam Jones for being named Coach of the Year.  Sam also earned Second Team All-State honors from the OSSCA!  POSTSEASON RECAP:  The Sectional and District Champion Anderson Redskins fell to Springboro in Regional Sweet 16 tournament action.  Congratulations to the Redskins on a magical season!

GIRLS' SOCCER:  Loveland compiling a fine 6-0 Conference record to capture the ECC championship this fall.  Player of the Year honors went to Loveland's Rachel Ernst and the Lady Tigers' Todd M. Kelly earned Coach of the Year recognition.  Rachel received All American recognition from the NSCAA.  Read more HERE.  Rachel also earned First Team All-State honors from the OSSCA!  Loveland's Colleen Swift and Walnut Hills' Kiley Keehan earned Second Team recognition.  POSTSEASON RECAP:  The District Champion Loveland Lady Tigers reached the Elite 8 before falling to Springboro 3-2 in the Regional Finals.  Read more HERE about the team's victory over St. Ursula in Sweet 16 action.

BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY:  The Kings Knights captured their third ECC championship in the past five years, with Turpin finishing second.  Anderson's Joe Ingram finished first and earned Runner of the Year honors.  Congratulations to Kings' Jim Brant for winning Coach of the Year honors.  POSTSEASON RECAP:  The following teams and runners advanced to the Regional Meet:  Turpin, Kings, and Loveland advanced as teams.  Turpin's Ben Gothard and Peter Morton; Anderson's Joe Ingram; Loveland's Caleb Davis and Greg Ballman; and Kings' Chris Stock, Robbie Winkler, and Max Schowalter advanced as individuals.  Ben qualified for the State Meet with his ninth place finish at Regionals!  

GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY:  Turpin won its second ECC championship in the last three years, finishing ahead of runner-up Kings.  The Lady Knights' Hannah Rasmussen placed first and earned Runner of the Year recognition.  Coach of the Year honors went to Turpin's Melissa Siemers.  POSTSEASON RECAP:  Congratulations to the Turpin Lady Spartans for advancing to the Regional Meet.  The squad placed third in the October 22 District Meet.  Individual Regional qualifiers included DISTRICT CHAMPION Samantha Bush (Turpin) and the Lady Spartans' Jayne Maxwell and Kings' Hannah Rasmussen.  Samantha and Hannah advanced to the State Meet!  

VOLLEYBALL:  Turpin came away with the ECC championship, compiling a stellar 13-1 Conference record.  Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honors went to the Lady Spartans' Claire Armbruster and Kathy Carboy respectively.  All-District honors went to Claire (First Team); Loveland's Marie Plitt and Anderson's Olivia Schwamberger (Second Team); and Turpin's Marisa Cerchio, Milford's Lisa Sullivan, and Loveland's Megan Kirlin (Honorable Mention).  Special congratulations to Claire for earning Honorable Mention All-State honors!  POSTSEASON RECAP:  District Champion Loveland fell to Mount Notre Dame in Regional Sweet 16 volleyball action.  Congratulations ladies on a great season!  Read more HERE.
